On August 9, 2017, a new DJI president was appointed to develop international business relations and oversee product development. Multi-talented Roger Luo has been chosen to lead the billion dollar drone company by DJI founder and CEO Frank Wang. Mr. Wang will continue to oversee DJI’s product development, while DJI President Luo will focus on product management and business relations with international dealers to “gain a deeper understanding of [their] growing customer base.”
Roger Luo And His Track Record
Roger Luo was once a software and hardware engineer for world-renowned companies such as Apple, Foxconn, and Siemens. When Roger Luo worked for BenQ and InnoLux Corporation, he was responsible for product management, sales, after-sales, and marketing for global markets. Not only does Mr. Luo’s work resume show that he is qualified, but he also holds a Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering from Santa Clara University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from National Taiwan University. DJI has also recognized Roger Luo for his two years of supervision in product procurement, production, and logistics. Mr. Luo was previously the Vice President of Operations, and he was responsible for contributing to DJI’s innovation and drone automation.
In response to his new position as President of DJI, Mr. Luo said, “DJI is a fast-growing high-tech company and this is a very exciting time for the industry. I look forward to working with the talented team at this company and, together to explore and maximize the creative possibilities of our technology.”

DJI is based in Shenzen, China, but the company has a growing global staff of 11,000. With offices in 17 cities all around the world, DJI was in need of a president to help with their product management. The drone company also recently announced that they will focus on developing agricultural drones, so their aim is to branch into other markets outside of the consumer drone industry.

DJI is aiming to expand their drone’s use, so DJI’s President will have to market their drones for different fields. Even though the UAV company plans on focusing their aim on drones for farming, the demand for more drones like the DJI Phantom 4 Pro will inevitably result in newer consumer drones. DJI is exponentially growing as a company, and newly appointed President Luo is more than qualified to lead the company with future drone technology.
