Video quality

The Mavic Air is equipped with a camera that can capture videos up to 100 Mb/s, whereas the Mavic Pro can only record up to 60 Mb/s. On YouTube, the difference can be hard to tell due to compression, but the video recording capability on the Mavic Air was made to be better simply because of the higher bitrate. We Talk UAV also created an actual footage comparison video between the Mavic Air, Mavic Pro and Spark.

Slow Motion

Since the Mavic Air was created to capture higher quality slow motion footage at 120 fps, it is better than the Mavic Pro’s 96 fps slow motion.

Portability

The Mavic Air was made to be more compact and lightweight. The controller’s sticks are also removable, so the newer drone is better than the Mavic Pro in terms of portability.

Flight Noise

The flight noise on the Mavic Air is louder when compared to the updated Mavic Pro Platinum.

Mavic Air vs. Mavic Pro conclusion

Mavic Air vs. Mavic Pro

Both drones have their pros and cons. At the end of the day, it all comes down to what needs to be filmed or photographed. If range and FPV goggle connectivity is the main focus, then the Mavic Pro (Platinum) is a better choice. If portability and weight is the main focus, then the Mavic Air is the better choice. Overall, the Mavic Air was concluded to be a better drone for travelling.
