Here’s what’s inside DJI’s iconic Phantom 4

Phantom 4

The DJI Phantom 4 was released back in March 2016, and it was arguably the best consumer drone for its price and time. Debuting with obstacle avoidance and an ActiveTrack function, which allows the drone to follow a subject, the Phantom 4 was packed with user-friendly features. Dronefly, a shop that sells and repairs drones, decided to create a infographic to display what is under the shell of the popular drone. Even though this anatomy only shows the first model of the Phantom 4 series, the newer Pro (P4P) and Advanced (P4A) versions are heavily based on this model:

Besides showing where each component goes, Dronefly also included a drone glossary to explain each part’s function.

With the release of newer models such as the P4P and Mavic Pro, DJI stopped making the Phantom 4. DJI officially terminated the production of the Phantom 4 in January 2017, exactly 322 days since its first launch. Even though the original Phantom 4 has been discontinued, Dronefly’s anatomy of a drone was released to pay homage to the iconic consumer quadcopter that standardized obstacle avoidance for other DJI drones.
