How does it work?
When responding to CBRNE events – remotely-controlled air and ground based drones equipped with cameras and measurement instruments would be deployed. Swarms of drones could fly above the scene, tasked with getting an overview of the situation and trying to ascertain what, if any, hazards are present in the area. All drones would relay their video, images and data back to a remote command centre where it will be analyzed by cutting-edge decision-making software.
As a follow up – ground-based drones could patrol the area detecting whether viruses or bacteria are present and collecting forensic evidence such as fingerprints or DNA samples. The project will run til 2019 and although these types of incidents are rare, drones could be used to improve safety and save lives.
