Drone-hunting eagles are USELESS

Recently, we’ve seen news about eagles hunting drones. And, of course, people who know nothing about drones think it’s pretty cool. But in fact, if you take a close look at the drone shown in the video – you’ll see it’s a lightweight toy that could not harm the bird in any way. It is most definitely not the kind of drone many people are flying these days.

Imagine a Phantom 4 with it’s 8,000-10,000 RPM motors or the even more powerful Inspire 1. It would seriously injure the poor bird.

See for yourself:

Or maybe an eagle is tougher than a chicken. Somehow, we doubt it when it comes to spinning props.

The news tells us this “drone hunting” is being done for safety reasons. But the reality is it’s anything but safe. It will injure of possibly kill the bird – and likely cause the drone operator to lose control. In other words, the drone could drop out of the sky, posing a hazard to those on the ground.

Yes, it makes for a great viral news story. And yes – maybe it works with small toy drones.

But you’d need more than a wing and a prayer to bring down a real drone.

As always, have a nice day!
