With the Mavic 2 series officially released, We Talk UAV created a comparison video to see just how much of an upgrade the new DJI drones are compared to the original Mavic series:

Mavic 2 Pro vs. Mavic Pro

The new Mavic 2 Pro has a 1” sensor and a 20 MP camera co-developed by Hasselblad, whereas the Mavic Pro has a 1 /2.3” CMOS sensor and a 12 MP camera. Footage captured on the Mavic 2 Pro is also sharper because of Hasselblad’s 10-bit coding technology, which means the new DJI quadcopter can now record over 1 billion colors! In comparison, the original Mavic Pro recorded footage using only 16 million colors.

Mavic 2 Zoom vs. Mavic Pro Platinum

The new Mavic 2 Zoom has a built-in 2x optical zoom designed to adjust from 24mm to 48mm, while the Mavic Pro Platinum has a fixed 26mm lens. DJI also stated the body on the Mavic 2 series has been improved by 19% to maximize aerodynamic efficiency. With the redesigned body, the Mavic 2 Zoom has a flight time rated at 31 minutes and a max speed of 44.7 mph, while the Mavic Pro Platinum has a flight time rated at 30 minutes and a max speed of 40 mph.

Even the Mavic Pro Platinum has improved motors and a new battery, so it can also fly longer than the original Mavic Pro.
