We Talk UAV recently released a DJI Mavic versus DJI Mavic Pro Platinum video, but viewers had more questions regarding the upgraded model. They wanted to know if there was a flight time increase with the new propellers on the original Mavic, and they had other more specific questions. We Talk UAV is all about doing drone reviews and answering viewer questions, so watch our newest video to see the results of our latest tests on the DJI Mavic Pro Platinum:
The four main differences on the DJI Mavic Pro Platinum are the ESCs, three minute increased flight time, new propellers and an overall noise reduction. Those are the main differences that DJI marketed, but people were asking if there was an actual increase in the newer model’s 1080p 60 fps video recording. DJI has yet to make an official comment on the improved 1080p 60 fps claim, but We Talk UAV found a difference in quality. You can watch the video for yourself to compare the drone footage.

How the DJI Mavic Pro Platinum Became More Efficient
According to DJI, the improved efficiency is 50% due to the new propellers and 50% due to the upgraded ESCs.

Is There a Flight Time Difference on the Mavic Pro with the Platinum Propellers?
We Talk UAV tested the DJI Mavic Pro Platinum propellers on the original Mavic Pro to see if there was a real difference in flight times. The DJI Mavic Pro with the DJI Mavic Pro Platinum propellers showed an increase flight time of one minute and two seconds in the hover test.

How Realistic is the Noise Reduction?
The noise reduction on the DJI Mavic Pro Platinum was only noticeable when the drone flew up close. When the drone flew higher, the noise difference was unnoticeable to the human ear.

Do the Motors Spin Faster?
The motors on both drones spin at the same rate.

Does the DJI Mavic Pro Platinum have a Different Firmware?
Both Mavics share the same firmware. DJI has yet to release a firmware specifically for the Platinum version.
