Do you want to fly your drone faster and higher than the legal limit? A Russian hacking company called CopterSafe is now offering hacked upgrades for your DJI drone. Geofencing and No-Fly Zones help keep drones out of airports and stadiums, but you can now bypass that with CopterSafe’s software upgrades. Doing these modifications does not require you to send in your drone. This unlocking software is pretty much considered illegal, but it won’t be that easily accessible to just anyone since each upgrade costs a few hundred dollars. Here is an example of a hacked DJI Mavic climbing faster and higher than a stock DJI drone.
CopterSafe Hacked Mods
CopterSafe offers different priced software upgrades for numerous DJI drones. One upgrade allows a DJI Mavic to climb up as fast as 22 mph instead of the stock 6-7 mph; doing this mod also allows your drone to descend faster from higher altitudes. Another hack allows your drone to fly up way past the 1640 feet software limit. CopterSafe offers NFZ removal for drones such as the Inspire 2 and Matrice 600. Hacked support for a thermal camera called FLIR enables your drone to have a full thermal imaging system. CopterSafe offers Full HD downlink with their thermal camera options; this is a great cost effective alternative to the Zenmuse XT camera that DJI offers for their Inspire 1 series. You can also install the Flir Duo or Flir Vue camera on a DJI Phantom 3.
CopterSafe Prices and Drone Support
CopterSafe offers their hacked software upgrades to these DJI drones: Inspire 1/ 2, Mavic, Phantom 4/ Pro, Matrice 200/600, and Phantom 3 Professional/Advanced. The software upgrades are individually priced and grouped for NFZ removal, Atti modes, and Sport modes, but CopterSafe has a three in one pack for the Mavic and the Phantom 4 series.
Are these CopterSafe Upgrades Ethical?
CopterSafe software upgrades are controversial, and some might even say that they are a threat to public safety, but this technology can unlock a drone’s true potential. In a Vice article, DJI said, “Disabling such features may inadvertently disable others and cause unpredictable behavior.” Buying a CopterSafe hacked software upgrade comes with many benefits, but it’ll come with some risks. If you unlock your drone, do this at your own discretion.
