The Russian Post failed to launch their first drone delivery parcel when their $20,000 UAV slammed into a wall seconds after it launched, according to Reuters. While the multicopter was en route to a destination that was nearly 10 miles away, it malfunctioned and flew into a building. Here is the actual footage uploaded on YouTube by RT (Russia Today):

The Russian drone carried a package that weighed about 4.4 pounds towards a village called Nizhniy Sayantui. Seconds after the approximately 15.4-pound multicopter successfully lifted off, it started wobbling. The multicopter then descended fast into a three-story residential building where two bystanders were nearly hit by the Russian drone debris, but no one was reportedly injured.

What caused the Russian drone to crash?

According to Reuters, over 100 Wi-Fi connections may have disrupted the drone’s flight.

Reuters also reported that a company called Rudron/Expeditor 3M designed the drone and organized the test flight. Russian Post made it clear that they were only there as a guest when the multicopter crashed.
